“Our hopes are high. Our faith in the people is great. Our courage is strong. And our dreams for this beautiful country will never die.” – Pierre Trudeau
Yesterday afternoon I decided to go do a little cityscaping as it was quite warm out and I didn’t have anything better to do. The irritating thing about going to our little “downtown” (aside from the no parking spots, and if you find one you better parallel park in point 4 seconds of the cars in front of you get mad) is that it is paid parking. I hate paid parking. However, there are about 7 spots across for city hall which has free 30 minute parking. I decided to park there as I could hustle and hopefully not get a ticket because paying the $15 ticket is worse than if I just paid the $1 fee.. Moving on..
I parked. To my left was City Hall, to my right was the cenotaph. I noticed the flag hanging and half mast. It was flying at half mast for Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, who was standing guard (unarmed) at our National War Memorial in Ottawa, when he was shot dead. His story had been all over the news for a week, and his funeral was yesterday. At our tiny memorial lay a few bouquets in his memory. A little piece of remembrance.
