It’s been a long ass time…

Well hello there!

It amazes me I still knew how to log on AND figure out how to add a new post. I can’t even call myself a blogger anymore, that is how much of a slacker I am over here.

It makes me sad in a way, blogging used to be such a big part of my life – and now, it just isn’t. I think blogging was something I did when I had something better but not as exciting to do. Homework? Nah, I want to blog. Or blogging was an excuse to get out of the house. It gave me an excuse to go do things, to experience more, to say ‘yes’ more often. It was a way to document the little things that I otherwise would have forgotten if it didn’t show up on my TimeHop.

When I started to phase out blogging, I feel like a lot of my favourite bloggers were doing the same. Posts were getting more sporadic. No one was showing up as often as they were. But after signing on here again, I realized a lot of you are picking it back up again – not to mention Charlene, totally publicly peer pressured me to get my ass back in this chair and post something for me to read. So Charlene, this attempt to at least show up here a little bit more often is going out to you.

SO I guess you need a little bit of a catch up of my life?

And this kind of sucks. Because at this moment I realized how little there is to catch up on. Am I literally this boring? Fo’ realz?

I landed my dream job. It is amazing. I can’t say enough wonderful things about it. I work from home, so I have a pretty awesome desk area. Not as awesome as it will be when Jamie and I get our own house and I have a full room to decorate, but it’s still pretty awesome.

Jamie won season hockey tickets from the newspaper, and somehow I have been lucky enough to not attend one game. I am telling you – life is good.

I got glasses. Sort of. I was getting really bad headaches. Google told me I either had a brain tumour, or I needed glasses. I went to the Optometrist, who said my vision was fine, I just had some slight eye strain from staring at screens all day. So I have glasses, but they don’t have a prescription in them. They reflect blue light – so they are basically like sunglasses for my computer/tv/kindle/devices.

I still drink too many Monsters, and should own stock in Starbucks.

Really not feeling this season of Greys. I’m not a Meredith fan – I don’t like her drama. I need more Alex.

My Christmas tree is up. It went up a week later than I would have liked, but now that it’s up – it’s so beautiful. I love Christmas. CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS.

I signed up for the Reddit Secret Santa, which immediately just stepped up my ‘coolness’ on the ‘cool scale’. I kept going back and forth between national vs international partner – and decided to go international, because #MapleSyrup

I tried shawarma, and I loved it. It did hurt my stomach a little though, but I am hoping it was something besides the shawarma. I am yet to go back though.

Seriously, am I really this boring?

I guess so. That’s all I can really update you on to catch you up to speed.

How was this post Charlene?

Document Your Life | November 2014

“We don’t remember the days, we remember the moments” – Cesare Pavese

And just like that, November is over – which makes me so incredibly happy as Christmas is less than a month away!!

November was spent decorating for Christmas, reading books, sipping Starbucks, and having the dreaded first snowfall. Document Your Life November 2014 is up!!

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go” – Bing Crosby

I was very disappointed in myself this year. I usually start decorating for Christmas on November 1, but the past 2 weekends have been pretty crazy around here. After two long weeks, I was finally able to start decorating. They day couldn’t have been any more perfect.

I started up the Christmas music quite loudly and was dancing around the kitchen and screaming singing the lyrics, while big chunky snow, peacefully fell from the sky. I enjoyed a coffee in a big snowman cup, and then I dictated delegated and got to work. It only took us a few hours because unfortunately we don’t have as many decorations as I like. I am a Christmas fanatic if you couldn’t already tell.

Jamie told me he will buy me a tree and decorations for our room which I am beyond thrilled about.  It looks like I will have a Christmas decorating part 2!

Later on, when it was all over, I made my sister kneel on the hardwood holding a cat down, so I could get some Christmas like bokeh of the cat. Thanks Cristina!

Christmas Wishlist 2014

“The bell still rings…for all who truly believe” – The Polar Express

There are 37 days until Christmas. Thirty. Seven. Days. Oh how I am such a Christmas nut. I contemplated uploading my Christmas Wishlist because nothing has really changed from last year… Everything I need, I have (or had to buy since I need it), and I am really not at want for anything… Even still I came up with a pretty basic list of things I am hoping for. I love seeing what other people are asking for, so why not share mine. Here is my Christmas Wishlist of 2014!

//1 A sleep mask. I am kind of in need of one. I sleep with one every single night – in fact, I cannot fall asleep without one. The problem though is that I only have one. Let me just tell you, if you only wear the same one for 2 years, it gets a little…..grungy. It has become discoloured and just kind of gnarly. The one I have isn’t supposed to go in the washing machine (yes, I realize I sound like a dirt savage), so I tried to wash it with a tooth brush and laundry detergent. I don’t know what I did, but let me tell you, I wake up with slight eye irritation every morning. Probably not healthy.

//2 Hair Supplies. I don’t know why, but I am constantly in search of hair ties and bobby pins. I swear, a pack of 500 bobby pins can go missing in a matter of days and I am always stuck with the same awful bobby pins with the ends broken off which cause severe hair loss while trying to use one.

//3 OPI – Every Month is Oktoberfest & Essie – Wicked. I have been on the hunt for the OPI polish for 2 years – my little town sucks and only one store carries OPI and it’s only their standard collection. As for the Essie, well I am in love with Oxblood nailpolish.

//4 A Macbook. A Macbook Pro 13.3… This is kind of wishful thinking, but on my list nonetheless. My computer is 5 years old, the battery doesn’t work so it has to be plugged in all the time. if my cord moves even slightly it will turn off. It is constantly freezing and has to be restarted almost too often. Sometimes it will just random restart on its own for no apparent reason. Sometimes it brings me to the verge of tears in frustration. I hate this computer. I need a Mac. Send me one? Please? Anyone?

//5 Candles/Gift card to Bath and Body Works. I love Candles. It’s no secret. Every year on boxing week I stock up on candles from Bath and Body (hello 75% off), and I am good for the year. No one ever gets me the gift cards or even candles (except for my sister, and occasionally Jamie) because I guess people assume it’s all I get? But it’s not, so I would love some help in the boxing week sale department.

//6 Pajamas/Night Shirts. I am in love with cozy and warm pjs. But as of lately I have been loving leggings, fuzzy socks, and a night shirt. It makes me feel a little bit more put together but equally as comfy.

//7 Anything in Grey or Mint. I have such a color obsession with Grey – Charcoal and slate in particular, and Mint – muted or not. I just have a huge hard on for anything in these 2 shades. Love.

& What is on your Christmas list?
& What is your current colour crush?
& Email me if you would like my address to ship me a Macbook. You will forever be my favourite person.

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

“I love singing Christmas carols. I know every harmony to every music-hall Christmas song.” – Zooey Deschanel

I would love to introduce you to the newest member of my family… Her name is yet to be determined as I am still getting to know her. I guess I sound like one of those crunch mamas who state “we do not have a name picked out yet as we are waiting to see what her personality is like”.

Jamie so kindly gave her to me as part of my Christmas gifts! She is exactly what I wanted! I have been looking on Etsy for prettier camera straps; however I am not sold on anything. A lot of them are essentially slip covers for the strap, which means I could probably get it made for cheaper without having to pay to have it shipped to Canada.. It is kind of ironic just how much I hate paying for shipping, yet I have a degree which essentially is based on international shipments and the price (among other things) of it.

Moving forward I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!!! I have been reading up on a lot of you and am happy to hear it was an excellent year!

Jamie and I followed our tradition of exchanging gifts with each other Christmas Eve. We are constantly moving and busy Christmas day that it is easier to exchange Christmas Eve. We also did a gift exchange with Jamie’s roommates which were a lot fun as well. His one roommate even got me my favourite bottle of wine! We had dinner with my parents and we gave them their gifts from us and Jamie got to open their gifts. We ended the evening with a Christmas movie before my mom and I went to midnight mass… Father Jerry wore a Santa Hat, and compared Joseph to a Maury Povich episode “Joseph you are NOT the father….. But he made an excellent foster father”. It was definitely the last thing I would have expected to happen at mass.

Christmas morning was very busy. I woke up early to get ready (to save time), then we did presents – lost power, and then it was restored – Jamie came and picked me up and we headed to his parents’ house for brunch and presents. We stayed until almost 1:00 before we had to take the 2 hour drive to my cousins’ house for Christmas Dinner.

I am pretty excited over all the things I received this year. My favourites have to be my newest family member, cozy socks and pjs (yes, I am 80 at heart), and gorgeous mugs! Jamie and I actually met these awesome friends a few years ago on Twitter and we send gifts every year. I almost died this year when I unwrapped two of the mugs I was drooling over!

It was definitely a busy hectic season but well worth it in the end. I am actually sad it is over. I just love Christmas.

Did you have a fantastic holiday?
What is your favourite gift?
Did you do anything special?
Did Maury ever come up into conversation at church?

It’s A Holly Jolly Christmas

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” – Norman Vincent Peale

Why hello everyone. I have no idea what has happened with me over the past two weeks. Seriously, I have no idea what I did which has caused me to not post. But, let’s move forward shall we?

I know I have mentioned so many times how much I adore Christmas time. Every little aspect of it. Decorating, music, baking, wrapping, reading, watching, I mean everything. I am Christmas obsessed. I found this cute little Christmas Tag which I thought would be so much fun to do!

I have loved reading what other people have to say for each of the questions. There is something so special of every family’s little traditions all during the same time of the year.

For any of you who have not heard of the Christmas Shoes, you can watch the full movie here, find the book here, or just listen to the amazing song right here!!

“Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please. It’s Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size. Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there’s not much time. You see she’s been sick for quite a while, and I know these shoes would make her smile, and I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight”

Do you love, or do you LOVE “The Christmas Shoes”?

My [Narcissistic] Grown-up Christmas List

“Well I’m all grown-up now, And still need help somehow. I’m not a child but my heart still can dream.” – Amy Grant ‘Grown-up Christmas List’

Well, I wish my christmas list could be as selfless as the one in the song. But let’s be realistic, who doesn’t want to dive into perfectly wrapped presents? I shouldn’t lie though, everyone hates when I open things. I don’t like ripping, I take my time and carefully unwrap. You could reuse the wrapping paper I open. Weird, I know.

I am Christmas obsessed. I was finished shopping mid-October, been listening to Christmas music nonstop, even been watching some Christmas movies! I was planning on putting the tree and decorations up last weekend but since I live with a bunch of Scrooge’s I was told to wait until this weekend. They all claim to “love” Christmas, yet do not want anything up until ideally December. Wtf is up with that? Some argue it should not go up until after the American Thanksgiving – agian, WTF, we’re not even American!!

Moving on before I really start ranting, I love looking at other people’s’ wish lists. Maybe I am nosey. So I decided to share mine, just in case Jamie or my mom anyone was wondering.

1. Erin Condren life planner. I am obsessed with these!!! I really want one. However I placed it on top of a screen caption of my bucket list Pinterest board. I think I need to do a lot more before one of these will be useful/worth the money. I mean, planning out my Netflix schedule isn’t too productive.

2. Mugs! I love mugs, the cuter the better. I could not even believe how cute the ones I found were. I love the Tiffany mug, and was surprised to see it is actually from Tiffany’s! The owl and the monkey mugs I have been on the hunt for, for roughly a year or so. They are $9.00 from Pier 1… If only I had a Pier one near me, that would be awesome.

3. Newborn donkey. You can buy them on Kijiji for as little at $50. It would be the best gift ever.

4. Canon Rebel T3. Love it. Been loving it. iPhone doesn’t cut it. Totally better than a point and shoot.

5. Candles!!! I am coming to the end of my GIANT stash which I have been weeding through for a year this Christmas. I think I have about 5 candles left. Definitely need new ones!

6. Fly Shannon home, or me to Shannon. Seriously, FaceTime was cool and all in the beginning, now it is just annoying.

7. A Christmas Story shirt! Best Christmas movie EVER. The shirt is just too amazing not to have.

8. Cozy Pj’s. Love Pjs. I live in them . The snugglier the better.

What is on your wishlist?
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Will you send me a newborn donkey?
