Blogmas Day 5

Ahhhh! I forgot about blogmas! Jamie and I have a busy day tomorrow, we are babysitting my little cousins, so I was hoping to go to sleep early!! Then, it hit me!! But I didnt really do too much today to talk about. SO I found a Christmas  tag to fill out! here we go!!

Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? well, I am lactose intolerant so it has to be worth it for me to have either. I lied, I hate egg nog, but I am lactose, so it better be a good damn cup of hot chocolate. I like it with steeped milk, I hate it with water – its too thin so only once in awhile. I actually made a cup last week with a spoonful of peanut butter melted in it! Amazing.

Coloured lights on tree/house or white? WHITE. Classy, simple and elegant. Hated Coloured

Do you hang mistletoe? No.

When do you put your decorations up? Too late. I love christmas, I would have decorations up all year. But instead, usually the week before the American Thanksgiving.

What is your favorite holiday dish? I find this difficult. My mom is not one to save food just for holidays. I love squash and sweet potato but we have that year round. With that being said I don’t really have one..

Favourite Holiday memory as a child? I honestly dont have one. My mom always did a fantastic job at making the holidays really special and memorable I do not have one that really stands out. They were all really good. I do have a few laughable moments though, like one year I got a gift that was from “mom and dad” and my dad asked me what it was.

When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I dont think it was ever really answered. I think logic took over. However, I was around 11 and my sister was 8, I found all the presents from Santa and sent Cristina in to see them, they all said “from santa”. I was evil.

Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We were never allowed. Although we did convince them once or twice to let us. Jamie and I try really hard to do both families for every holiday. We are generally really rushed so for the past 2 years we did our little christmas on Christmas eve.

How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I like to take my time and organize the ornaments by colour. I start with one colour to make sure it is all balanced before moving to the next colour. Smaller ornaments on top, larger on the bottom.

Snow! Love it or Dread it? loathe it.

Do you remember your favourite gift? I get a new favourite each year. Although a few “gag” gifts turn out I love the most – for example my pink snuggie!

What is your favourite Holiday Dessert? Refer to the favourite food

What is your favourite holiday tradition? The smell of my house when my mom bakes nonstop all weekend

Blogmas Day 4

Jamie had to be at work an hour earlier than usual – it resulted in me having to get up an hour earlier than normal also. I CAN be a morning person as long as I do not get woken up. In the event at which I get woken up – well, it takes me awhile to become a person. I was up at 5 this morning and did not say 2 words to anyone until around 8:30 which was when I made some coffee, lit a candle and began to knit and watch my shows.

I began streaming shows awhile ago – I cant stand reality shows. The shows which I do enjoy I cannot get the channel (Or are on too late, and you all know how I like to be asleep early). Back in June I watched all 8 seasons of Desperate Housewives in just over 4 weeks. Mind you, I was out of school and didn’t have much more to do. About 2 weeks ago I watched season 1 – present of Homeland. OH MY GODNESS. It reminds me of Alias and I LOVED Alias. When I got caught up I realized I have nothing else to watch – so Dexter started. I have heard some great things about it, so I thought I would give it a try.

During this I have been knitting a blanket for a baby shower which is coming up in January. I was worried at first, someone  commented on the pattern and said it took them 9 months to knit! I have 8 rounds left and I will be done – I started a week ago.

I wish I could have gotten a better photo but I am doing it on 29 inch circs so its all scrunched up. I will definitely update when I cast off.

Anyways, throughout Dexter and this blanket this morning I discovered my love for candles!! I was never a candle person – when Jamies brother actually gave me this candle I was pretty shocked. I was not a candle person. Yeah, they smell nice but then generally just collect dust. Yeah, no. not anymore. I actually discovered the comfort in lighting a candle.

So after episode 7 of Dexter I went to Bath and body Works. The last time I was in (last week) I saw they had a few candles in their signature scent collection. I went to take a look and actually left with a bag larger than I would have thought.

My top 5 signature collection scents are not in candles – in Canada at least (in no particular order – Sea Island Cotton, Midnight Pomegranate, Secret Wonderland, Caribbean Island, and Twilight Woods). I lied, “Twilight Woods” actually was there – but it smelled musky and gross to me. I ended up getting “Sweet Pea” and “Paris Amour” which happen to be in my top 10 – so I did luck out that way!

I also could not help but get 3 of the smaller sized ones (they were on sale!!) I ended up getting “Sparkling Icicles”, “Twinkling Night”, and “Winter Candy Apple”.

Winter Candy Apple is one of my favourite winter scents from BBW. They say a scent can take you back and relive memories. The winter of grade 12, Amanda went to the States for Black Friday. I gave her money to pick some things up from BBW for me (mostly the scents we cant get here – I went through a phase where EVERYTHING I used was from BBW – Not even kidding – I own every single sanitizer scent included limited edition) Anyways, she picked up the Winter Candy Apple lip gloss, sanitizer and lotion for me – and for her. So we were like twins! The scent reminds me of putting it on every 10 minutes in my Philosophy class – weird!

Lastly, look at how cute the packaging of the “Sweet Pea” is! So delicate and girly! I love it.

 

Blogmas Intro

As I have said many times before, I absolutely love Christmas. I was done my Christmas shopping around mid-october. That leaves me with this month completely open and just enjoying the holiday atmosphere as everyone else is running around and yelling at each other.

This gave me the idea to do this. I wanted something to keep me busy while everyone else is busy! Along came Blogmas. I am challenging myself to do a blog a day from now until Christmas!!

This should be a lot fun!!

Weekend According to my iPhone

1. Yes, we went to “The Pizza Factory” for dinner yet again. I feel like I am starting to sound like I am making it up, so to verify, you probably remember I mentioned I painted my nails? So I have a photo of my nails on the menu!
2. I had a Panzeratti yet again…… I can only eat half of it so I got the sauce on the side so it wont get soggy sitting in the fridge over night…
3. Went to Starbucks… I need to stop including Fridays on here… I had the Tazo Chai Latte, easy water, no foam, lactose free milk! Jamie had an Iced Caramel Macchiato with extra caramel drizzle.
4. Instead of going to the actual Starbucks we went to the one in Chapters (equivalent to Barnes and Noble) They were decorated for Christmas. The stockings were adorable!
5. We got back to Jamie’s and I was sitting on the couch when Ryder decided I was sitting in his spot so he sat on top of me
6. Saturday! My mom and I put our tree up!!! I complain every year on how pathetic and crippled our tree is.. Doesnt seem to matter. We make due! Essentially the Christmas decorating took all day!
7. Afterwards Jamie and I went to Tim’s! They also have their Winter cups out! I had a French Vanilla and Jamie had a coffee with 2 cream!
8. We had the munchies after going to Tim’s so we stopped at the store and got some snacks. However, but the time we got them were didn’t really want them… So I enjoyed the chips I got Sunday on the way in to my house. I have never had them before, they are “Kettle Chips” in the flavor “honey dijon” – AMAZING!
9. …This is what Jamie thought of the smell…..
10. It was super foggy out. Not on the roads but like surrounding us? I dont know how to explain it. The fields and “out yonder” were foggy but the roads were fine?
11. Stopped at Subway. Saw our intense Sandwich Artist guy. I had a BLT and Jamie had a club.
12. We stopped to get Tim’s for everyone and Jamie picked up a proline. (3 coffees – 2 cream, double double, triple triple… French Vanilla, and an Earl Gray Tea plus 12 doughnuts).
13. My mom and I went shopping to get some more christmas decorations as I have been complaining. We found gorgeous little balls at Walmart for $3.88 – WOW!
14. We also wanted something else for the tree to make it look fuller. Tinsel would have swallowed our tree.. We found tinsel like yarn are Michaels which worked perfect! It definitely added some umph and didn’t swallow. 40% off coupon, it came to $2.02 – Steal!
15. After working all afternoon – this was our final product!!! Looks Beautiful. I will go into more detail later!
16. As we were leaving I was complaining on how cold it was outside. Jamie sarcastically asked me if I wanted him to move the truck closer so I do not have to walk as far. I said yes. Success!
