It’s been a long ass time…

Well hello there!

It amazes me I still knew how to log on AND figure out how to add a new post. I can’t even call myself a blogger anymore, that is how much of a slacker I am over here.

It makes me sad in a way, blogging used to be such a big part of my life – and now, it just isn’t. I think blogging was something I did when I had something better but not as exciting to do. Homework? Nah, I want to blog. Or blogging was an excuse to get out of the house. It gave me an excuse to go do things, to experience more, to say ‘yes’ more often. It was a way to document the little things that I otherwise would have forgotten if it didn’t show up on my TimeHop.

When I started to phase out blogging, I feel like a lot of my favourite bloggers were doing the same. Posts were getting more sporadic. No one was showing up as often as they were. But after signing on here again, I realized a lot of you are picking it back up again – not to mention Charlene, totally publicly peer pressured me to get my ass back in this chair and post something for me to read. So Charlene, this attempt to at least show up here a little bit more often is going out to you.

SO I guess you need a little bit of a catch up of my life?

And this kind of sucks. Because at this moment I realized how little there is to catch up on. Am I literally this boring? Fo’ realz?

I landed my dream job. It is amazing. I can’t say enough wonderful things about it. I work from home, so I have a pretty awesome desk area. Not as awesome as it will be when Jamie and I get our own house and I have a full room to decorate, but it’s still pretty awesome.

Jamie won season hockey tickets from the newspaper, and somehow I have been lucky enough to not attend one game. I am telling you – life is good.

I got glasses. Sort of. I was getting really bad headaches. Google told me I either had a brain tumour, or I needed glasses. I went to the Optometrist, who said my vision was fine, I just had some slight eye strain from staring at screens all day. So I have glasses, but they don’t have a prescription in them. They reflect blue light – so they are basically like sunglasses for my computer/tv/kindle/devices.

I still drink too many Monsters, and should own stock in Starbucks.

Really not feeling this season of Greys. I’m not a Meredith fan – I don’t like her drama. I need more Alex.

My Christmas tree is up. It went up a week later than I would have liked, but now that it’s up – it’s so beautiful. I love Christmas. CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS.

I signed up for the Reddit Secret Santa, which immediately just stepped up my ‘coolness’ on the ‘cool scale’. I kept going back and forth between national vs international partner – and decided to go international, because #MapleSyrup

I tried shawarma, and I loved it. It did hurt my stomach a little though, but I am hoping it was something besides the shawarma. I am yet to go back though.

Seriously, am I really this boring?

I guess so. That’s all I can really update you on to catch you up to speed.

How was this post Charlene?

Document Your Life April

I am a little late on getting this up here. April was a busy month!! It is usually the kick off of Jamie and I being on the go every weekend until July.

April 1 and 3 was Jamie and my sisters’ birthday respectively, and Cristina’s birthday happened to be Good Friday, so we celebrated with family on Good Friday and then with Jamie’s family Easter Sunday. So Busy, and it was only the first week.

Aside from birthday’s I helped Jamie’s stepdad paint their living room, had a wonderful visit with my friend who moved out west and her little baby (who is a lot bigger since I saw them last!!!), drank a lot of Starbucks, had our first BBQ without having to wear a coat and boots, read a LOT of books and completed my reading goal for the YEAR!

April was a great month.

Things I Should Give Up For Lent… But Won’t

“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.” – Pope Francis

Lent officially began on Wednesday. After spending 13 years in the Catholic School system it was always a day which turned to a competition to get the best looking cross ash on our forehead – no one wanted the giant blob looking one.

Fun fact, when I was in grade 4 or 5 – that was when I learned that not everyone was Catholic – not even kidding, I thought everyone was. My mom took me to get my haircut after school while I had the ash cross on my head (I was always told it was a sin to rub it off), and the stylist asked me what it was for, and I wasn’t sure how to answer – after all the whole wide world was Catholic.

My Greek grandmother took the Lent to a whole new level. During Lent, she practically starved (in my mind at least), she wouldn’t have any meat or things which came from an animal (dairy, butter, eggs), oil, and other things. I feel like after all her years of doing that, I can slack a little bit, when it comes to Lent.

So, here is the list of things I should give up for Lent…. But won’t.

Nail Polish – I paint my nails – a lot. 1-2 times a week. Nothing looks better than looking down to a perfectly polished finger. Of course my cuticles need a lot of work, but we are getting there.

Revenge On (the American) Netflix – I don’t know how I just discovered this show. I love it. The main character is also Canadian and grew up about 40 minutes from me. It’s love.

Friday Night Date Nights With Jamie – Over 4.5 years later, and still haven’t missed a Friday.

Fuzzy Socks, A Cozy Blanket, My Kindle – That is Heaven on earth right there. Best Trio EVER. Well the best trio you can’t ingest, because let’s be honest, soup/salad/bread sticks will win every damn time.

EOS Lip Balm – I just can’t. It’s probably an obsession at this point.

Lighting Candles – Every morning and night I have one burning. But I mean, they light candles at church, so I don’t think I could give it up if I wanted to.

Starbucks – It’s just too good. Some people say “Beer is proof God loves us.” But I think it’s Starbucks.

My iPhone – you know, for safety reasons.

What could you never give up for Lent?

Document Your Life | November 2014

“We don’t remember the days, we remember the moments” – Cesare Pavese

And just like that, November is over – which makes me so incredibly happy as Christmas is less than a month away!!

November was spent decorating for Christmas, reading books, sipping Starbucks, and having the dreaded first snowfall. Document Your Life November 2014 is up!!

Friday Morning Chat

“On Friday night, I was reading my new book, but my brain got tired, so I decided to watch some television instead.” – Stephen Chbosky

Good morning everyone!! It’s Friday; so who is up for a Friday morning chat?

How is everyone doing this morning? Good? Great!

+ I have had such an awesome week. My best friend came home for a visit (she moved across the country) and she brought her little baby with her! He is the most perfect little 2 month old I have ever laid eyes on! My heart is so full of love for the little guy.

+ Does anyone watch Stalker? This weeks episode was so awful. For the past 6 weeks the question has been “What happened in New York” or “Why can’t he see his son”.. Holy shit batman, the most anticlimactic answer ever.

+ I woke up to it snowing this morning. I hate snow. I really, really hate snow.

+ I started listening to Christmas music November 1, and I am so excited. Christmas is my most favourite time of the year. It gives me such warm fuzziness.

+ Speaking of Christmas, Starbucks have all their holiday drinks, and food, and mugs, and red cups. Oh my goodness, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year

+ Starbucks is making me think of Peppermint Hot Chocolate, which I would sure love right about now… With Whip Cream. Yum

+ Friday is my favourite day for shows, I watch everything which is on Thursday nights – Greys, Parenthood, How To Get Away With Murder, Scandal. Oh I love it. I do miss Smelly Mellie though.

& What is happening with you on this chilly Friday?
& What is your favourite Holiday Starbucks Drink?
&  Do you miss Smelly Mellie
& Please tell me how beautiful that baby is

A Random MishMash of Life..

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.” – Stephen King

Wow, it has been awhile since I made an appearance over here. There is really no reason for it other than I have been “busy”. I feel like you are as busy as you want to be; you can make time for the things you want to be doing. Lately, I just haven’t been feeling the whole blogging thing. Maybe it is because it was the end of summer, or because I just kept putting it off. I once read “the longer you go between blogging, the less you have to blog about”. So true.

Let’s have a quick catch up sesh shall we?

//1. My mom and I went out a lot the past few weeks to take pictures. Everywhere from by the lake, to the abandoned Drive In, to a Farmers Market, and a Church.

//2. We are coming to the end of the renovations – finally! So lately I have been doing a lot of DIY’s and other things which make my body feel like crap for the next few days. Pictures will come when everything is complete. 2 days ago I tiled for 12 hours, at this point I don’t believe my knees and shins will every fully recover.

//3. Jamie started playing Lacrosse again after a 3 week break between seasons.

IMG_1305**don’t strain your eyes. Somehow he didn’t make that picture**

//4. It was officially fall for me on September 2, when I had the Pumpkin Spice FRAP from Starbucks. I really hate the latte.

//5. Speaking of Starbucks. I finally received my Gold Card. I am officially a somebody.

//6. I am so pumped it’s officially fall (in my mind at least). I love fall. I love scarves. I love the colours changing. I love the coolER weather – I don’t like cold though let’s be real.

//7. I have been binge reading. I love reading.

//8. In my spare time I find myself at grocery stores, convenience stores, drug stores, rummaging through bins of Coke bottles on the hunt for “Julia”. I have so far, found 2. There seems to be an abundance of “James” though. I see it, I buy it, I drink it, I worry about  the effects later.

Really that has been all I have been up to!!

How have you been?
Do you like pumpkin spice everything, or just some things?
It is officially fall for you?

“Old geocachers don’t die, they just get archived” – Unknown

Lately I have wanted to take more pictures but it is a little frustrating living right in the middle of cottage country. I can only take so many pictures of water, trees, walking trails, and train tracks before that gets really boring. The issue though, is that I didn’t really want to take a drive anywhere to shoot – I live in the centre of cottage country surrounded by more cottage like places.

I have wanted to try geocaching for awhile now, so I asked my sister if she wanted to go – she said ‘sure’ even though she wasn’t too sure what it was. My mother thought we were basically going to go walking on a trail aimlessly.

Geocaching is basically a big scavenger hunt with GPS locations.

I went to the website and searched for a decent looking one close to us, wrote down the coordinates, grabbed my camera, purse, Cristina, and we headed out.  We parked and started walking to the trail.

We are not really hikers or even knew what this geocache was all about as we were in flip flips and had to start by going across what I would call a swamp – I think Cristina called it a muddy ditch. Tomato/tomahto

We somehow survived the swamp crossing and we were able to continue on. After walking for a few minutes we realized “oh yeah, maybe we should map the coordinates so we are not walking down a trail aimlessly like mom thought”.

I had the camera, Cristina had the coordinates, and we began walking. We walked for a good 20 minutes before I took Cristina’s phone from her as she was reading the map wrong – she was zoomed out so we basically walked until the dots hit each other not realizing when you zoom in the dots were actually getting further apart. Yes, we were going the wrong way.

We turned around and continued our journey.

We continued back to roughly 50 meters from where we started.

The “clue” was that we would find the container at the base of a tree.

We found the tree – it was covered in weeds and other swamp like things. I was not going to dig through it so Cristina had to be brave and start digging.

A bug ended up landing on her which caused her to literally gallop/prance/frolic around. It was at that moment, we looked at each other and realized geocaching was not for us.

We decided to leave without finiding the cache.

To reward ourselves for at least finding the tree we went to Starbucks for a drink.

I had a Cool Lime Refresher, and Cristina had a Hazelnut Macchiato.

+ Have you ever gone Geocaching?
+ Did you actually every find the cache?
